The symptoms likely reflect iron chlorosis or salt burn from irrigation. In New Mexico high mineral salts with daily watering cause leaf yellowing, browning edges, and weak growth. Use plants tolerant of salts, adjust irrigation to keep roots moist 2–3 feet deep, prune water sprouts in summer, and consider reduced fertilizer spikes. Late freezes and drought may have reduced fruit this year.
