Hobson Road upgrade, emergency radio system improvements, and a courthouse elevator headline the five year capital improvement plan approved by the Chaves County Commission. The list includes 78 projects for 2020 and 197 total through 2024, submitted annually to the state as a fluid funding needs report from all county departments.
The Chaves County Board of Commissioners tabled a rezoning request for a Hagerman apartment project after developers indicated they had not decided whether to proceed. A hold remains due to one or two unresolved issues.

Roswell City Council narrowly approved a 60 foot encroachment into Del Norte Park for the Del Norte Elementary School reconstruction set to finish in 2020. The vote was 9 to 1 with Councilor Oropesa opposing after calls for more engineering compromise. The infrastructure committee backed the plan 4 to 0.
In Taos County three of five extended family members charged with child abuse await release after Judge Sarah Backus ruled prosecutors did not prove danger to the community. Security was boosted at the courthouse amid threats related to the decision.
