Gloria Mendoza seeks community support to launch a local family cancer support group inspired by her son Jorge Mendoza who died of acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 16 after a long battle. Jorge faced illness with positivity, endured chemotherapy, radiation, brain surgeries, and two bone marrow transplants before his death.

Heritage Award Dinner honors Roswell families at 34th event
The Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico will honor the Gene Reischman and J Kenneth Smith families at the 34th Annual Heritage Award Dinner in Roswell on Aug 25 at 6 pm. The event at the Roswell Convention and Civic Center features a reception, auction, steak dinner and cash bar with tickets $60 per person or $450 per table.
