The Valley of Fires Recreation Area near Carrizozo has reopened after repaving about a mile of road and parking areas. The $280000 project by WWW Construction of Ruidoso ended a closure since June 18. Ten RV sites and 22 regular campsites are available along with a group tent area and picnic shelter.
