Gridiron Grinds Start as Three NM Schools Begin Two-A-Day Practices
About 300 players from Roswell Goddard and NMMI opened the 1978 prep football season in 97-degree heat. Goddard's Joe Boyd reports a 100 percent turnout with 92 players and a larger squad. Colts Start Season With Three-A-Days In Preparation
The independent Colts plan three daily practices due to no summer conditioning program. Coach Robertson notes many players are scattered nationwide and hopes intense three-a-day workouts and six returning starters can lift them from last year’s 0-11 season as they open September 8 at Jal. Goddard faces Class AAAA in an otherwise mixed schedule.
