Rocky Mountain Fireworks Co Little Joe and the Roswell Rockets will present Chaves County’s biggest show of the year at Fair Park next Friday night. Patsy Allen says the triple event includes a 7 pm 20 minute Little Joe act, a grand fireworks display with 100 aerial shells and 18 ground pieces, and a Rockets game to follow. Two male Golden Eagles locked in aerial combat over Conchas Lake, near Santa Fe, were netted and brought to shore alive. About 150 witnesses watched as District game warden Jim Dillard and fishermen, including Burr Rice of Tucumcari, saw the struggle end with the birds plunging into the lake. The State Game Department planned to destroy the predators and study their stomach contents. The birds stood about three feet tall and weighed 15 to 20 pounds.
