Five thousand people packed the New York Store as throngs shopped all day. The big sale drew fresh bargains, with merchandise moving fast and interest spreading like wildfire. Nine more days of rapid selling are assured.

A parade praised for order speed and inspiration with the Cook drum corps and band of Denver leading and twenty two drill corps women receiving continuous ovations as the crowd enjoyed ideal weather after light night showers.
Gen. Chas. H. Cole once led the Globe National Bank and, after six years in Greenfield jail, was released last April. He died at St. Margaret's hospital in Boston from tuberculosis.

A cache of jewelry was discovered hidden inside the wall of a building at the St. Louis Exposition. Authorities say items appear intact and were placed there to evade discovery. Detectives continued examining the scene for potential accomplices and to determine ownership.
John Q O'Brien, in England ordered, unearthed jewels worth 50000 hidden in an alligator bag from a trunk tied to the Claytons of Devonshire. The theft occurred during their Louisiana Purchase Exposition visit two years earlier. The servant involved died in India after an elephant incident.

The assessment included 1 06 million on his San Pedro Railroad stock 2 44 million on the United Verde mine and a 649000 boost to his bank valuation. Clark failed to appear before the board.
Washington reports four bids under the Treasury plan to acquire silver. Director Roberts opened bids, Secretary Shaw approved, and the government purchased fifty thousand ounces at 66.62 cents per ounce. Weekly bids are planned from fifty to one hundred thousand ounces indefinitely.
