Roswell Police Chief Alfonso Solis reassures residents there is no crime wave and credits openness with the media. He praises Roswell’s Most Wanted program, Neighborhood Watch and Crime Stoppers, and urges more public cooperation to curb crime.
Tiffany Green and Rosalinda Herrera turned themselves in to Roswell Police after officials questioned Green’s initial account of a Valero robbery at 3300 North Main Street. Detectives doubted Green’s testimony and identified Herrera as the person who staged the incident. a third participant remains unnamed.
An arrest warrant is issued for Dominic Larez, 17, in the August 7 shooting of Arthur Baca, 23, on East Summit Street. Baca was airlifted to Lubbock with severe injuries. Larez, Baca’s cousin from San Antonio, is 5'8" 160 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. Tip lines offer anonymity and rewards.
Roswell hosts its first medical conference on Sept. 9 organized by Frontier Medical and Eastern New Mexico Medical Center with about 100 attendees. The event offers continuing education units for doctors nurses and respiratory therapists and features speakers on cardiac aging wound care surgical robotics and patient hand offs. Vendors include pharmaceutical firms Pecos Valley Winery hosts a wine and cheese party with a tour Sept. 10. Early registration before Sept. 1 offers a discount.
