A Memphis Boy Scout troop bound for the Grand Canyon arrived in San Jon New Mexico after a bus breakdown. Local Sheriff Richard Flint and townspeople hosted the stranded group with meals crafts and a desert tour. Mechanics repaired the bus at a cost of 750 with only the actual price charged.
