Roswell welcomes 1850 officers and men of the 200th Coast Artillery Regiment as they stage an all night anti aircraft defense drill. Eight million candlepower searchlights and guns will simulate protecting a mock airport north and west of Roswell. Colonel Charles E. Sage commands the unit arriving about two this afternoon with 268 trucks parked on Institute grounds. Local scouts and Legion Auxiliary serve cold drinks to soldiers under Civilian Defense funding.

Secretary R J Mullins of the State Educational Association said New Mexico schools will cut budgets for the next year by more than $250 000 from 1940 41 levels. Budgets fall from 7 784 128 to 7 525 796 though revenues may rise in 1941 42. Delinquent tax credits of 332 562 last year will not be available, and the emergency fund used to cover the shortfall is exhausted. The reduced budgets are to avoid credit for uncollected delinquent taxes.

Automobile drivers are cautioned that army trucks will be moving without lights tonight from the Institute to maneuver areas northwest of town. The trucks will be used in the maneuver of the 200th Coast Artillery Regiment anti aircraft to work out a tactical problem defending a simulated airport northwest of the city.
