Artesia crop dusting pilot Al Calderon escaped serious injury when his P. V. Flying Service plane crashed on the O. B. Berry farm near Dexter. He suffered a scratched leg after clipping cotton and flipping the plane. The wreckage was towed to Artesia for rebuilding or salvage. Calderon had flown a month for P. District Judge C Roy Anderson will decide if 13 year old Carlsbad boy will be tried in District or Juvenile Court for the Saturday Artesia slaying of 17 year old Nick Gomez. Salgado confessed to killing Gomez with a butcher knife as a gang fight erupted. Four other Carlsbad youths were charged with creating an affray and related counts in Eddy County.
