Immigrants at Artesia under quarantine amid health alert
About 600 illegal immigrants at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia remain under quarantine for chicken pox and receive medical care. U S Rep Steve Pearce and Artesia officials briefed reporters after touring the site noting two chicken pox cases among detainees from El Salvador Guatemala and Honduras with several false TB positives.

County imposes performance standards for Roswell chambers
Chaves County commissioners set new performance benchmarks for the Roswell Chamber of Commerce the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corp of Roswell Chaves County to qualify for the second half of funding in the 2014 15 budget. The final budget totals 43 354 116 with allocations of 80 000 40 000 and 5 000 respectively and reporting requirements were added at the July 24 meeting.

Roswell honors 92 year old Air Force veteran and civic leader
Stuart Pritchard a prominent Roswell figure and former Air Force lieutenant colonel died at 92. Born November 3 1921 in Hagerman he served in World War II as an Army Air Corps pilot instructor and B 29 flyer and flew about 100 missions during the Berlin Airlift. He retired to Roswell after Walker Air Base closed in 1967 and was a businessman artist and writer.
