Hobson's lamb tops county 4-H and FFA sales

Chaves County 4-H and FFA animal sales total 240690.91 with add ons 22402.41 and livestock values led by Whitney Hobson 110 lb Suffolk blackface lamb at 8307. The event highlighted dairy heifers as top earners with seven animals over 5000, including Porte and Breedyk in first and second dairy heifers. Purchasers include Yorktown Dairy Roswell Livestock and Pecos Valley Dairy Sales.

Roswell Dress a Student Day Proclaims August 3 as DAS Day

Crowds filled Pioneer Plaza as Roswell marks Dress a Student day with a dunk tank and cake walk fundraiser. Mayor Owen proclaimed August 3 2001 as Project DAS day praising its home grown effort to provide school uniforms for elementary and middle school students. The goal this year is 10000 dollars fostering uniforms for about 400 children with at least 2500 pledged so far. Sponsors include the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce Wal Mart Target Coca Cola and city departments with donations encouraged via the chamber.
