In Chicago on August 5 the packers and strikers showed determined grit to continue the labor dispute into next week. Last night at the opera house Luke Cosgrave and Miss Ida McCune presented an acclaimed program. Mrs J B Gillette with six children and her parents Mr and Mrs J I Christian of Alpine Texas arrived today and will settle at the James place two and one half miles east of town. Gillette was held in Pecos for inspection of milch cows he was bringing from Texas and will arrive tomorrow. The family traded Texas property for this homestead and aim to become welcomed additions to the valley population. Gillette studied the country before moving.
