Alamogordo gains option to buy Bonito Lake water system
Alamogordo has secured an option to purchase Bonito Lake and its water rights near Ruidoso, including the Bonito dam and reservoir and a 150 mile pipeline system serving Carrizozo Corona Vaughan and other communities. The plan envisions piping water to Alamogordo and providing access for Carrizozo Capitan and federal installations. Roswell has previously shown interest while Eagle Creek water and rights are being studied by engineers and the Interstate Streams Commission.
