Scaffold Collapse Kills 51 at West Virginia Power Plant
A metal scaffold inside a cooling tower collapsed 150 feet to the ground killing 51 workers in St. Marys West Virginia. Eight members of one family died including four Steele brothers and relatives. Surviving workers recalled the tower shuddering as the structure gave way. Authorities said many victims were trapped beneath debris, with most victims from New Jersey or West Virginia.
