Holy Fire ceremony draws thousands to Jerusalem church
Thousands gather at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem for Easter Week Holy Fire rites. Theofilos III leads the Edicule doors opening as the flame is said to be miraculously lit and shared among worshippers from Armenian, Russian, and Greek Orthodox communities. The event draws tens of thousands and security remains tight with about a thousand police deployed. The flame is then carried to Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity for the dawn of Easter.
