Captain John Gioscio commander of the Roswell Salvation Army corps died early today in Inglewood California after a Mayo Clinic cancer diagnosis. He had been hospital bound and ill for about a month and would have turned 29 next August. Survived by his wife and four year old daughter. Funeral arrangements not learned.

Roswell resident Melvin Stevenson, 67, died suddenly from an acute heart attack Saturday afternoon while working on his farm near the Country Club. A former deputy state game warden, he operated East Side Grocery in Roswell for four years and had recently bought a nearby farm. Born November 5, 1883 in Little Rock Arkansas, he leaves a wife and son Guy, plus four sisters and four brothers. Services Monday at ten thirty in Artesia with burial at South Park.
