At midnight on April 12 he was attacked by Chinese and with several servants wounded and left for dead. He was found in the morning still breathing and may recover. The U. S. consul has sent twenty native soldiers to prevent further outbreak.

Earl W Card former president of the Medina National Bank in Medina New York was convicted of misappropriating bank funds and making false returns to the comptroller of the currency. He received a six year sentence at Auburn prison. J H Stinson roadmaster for the Pecos Valley and Northeastern traveled from Roswell after two days of court there. he is from Hereford.
A Dowieite missionary named Kennedy rented a native building at Tsungli village, about four days from Shanghai, for work. Attacked by Chinese locals, he was left for dead but may recover. The incident occurred near Shanghai on April 19.
H. T. Langmaid of Bradleyville Missouri arrived for a prospecting visit to seek a suitable location. He plans to evaluate nearby resources and meet local officials to discuss potential development opportunities.
Dr. Sam S Butler arrived from Dexter to spend the day, stopping by local affairs and meeting residents during daytime activities.

Word has come of the death of Mrs. W. M. Weaver wife of Col. Weaver of Plano Texas and mother of Mrs. Otto Hedgcoxe of Roswell. Mrs. Hedgcoxe is now at Plano summoned there by her mother illness. Sheriff Woodruff returned from Santa Fe with a receipt from the warden showing Jay Clark deposited in the Territorial penitentiary after being arrested for shooting James M. Chase at Torrance.
