Freedom Tree honors MIA and KIA veterans in Roswell
Former POW Col James L. Hughes of Santa Fe and Col Albert E. Runyon of Albuquerque led a Freedom Tree dedication at the Roswell National Guard Armory. Twelve MIA and KIA plaques were unveiled as families watched a missing man formation fly over. Local officials and veterans groups attended, with messages of courage, sacrifice, and renewed patriotism shared by speakers.

Detective Fenner Killed in Roswell Motorcycle Accident
Roswell City Police Detective Terry Lynn Fenner died in a motorcycle crash 14 miles south of Roswell on Sunspot Road. He was 24, married with two children, and had served as a detective since January and with the force since February 1972.
