Booths at the Rio Hondo District scouting exposition buzzed with youngsters and leaders. Activities spanned crafts, geology, firemanship, electricity and Indian lore with a central dance ring and five free films.
Dorothy E. Brewer 32 of Box 214 A Rt 2 suffered a fractured left collar bone in a two car collision at 4 p m Friday at the intersection of a county road and US Highway 285 near the city south limits. Her 1955 Chevrolet pickup headed north. Raenette Harris 16 of Southsprings Box 160 A Rt 2 drove a 1957 Ford sedan west. The Ford skidded 18 steps then struck behind the Chevy rear wheel. The pickup flipped onto its top and came to rest south of the impact. Brewer was taken to St Marys Hospital by Ballard ambulance. The Chevrolet was totaled. Ford damage estimated at 200 dollars.
Texaco stations opened with regular gas at 29 1/2 cents and premium at 32 cents, down from 34 and 36. Major stations soon followed as independents offer as low as 26 cents. Gas wars spread to Southwest cities as firms promise further reductions to stay competitive.
State Health Department officials said a dog that bit 13 residents in Las Cruces last week has rabies. The dog’s head was sent to Albuquerque for testing as 13 people were watched under quarantine. No human cases have been reported.

The Community Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday will start at 5 30 a m at de Bremond Stadium with the Senior High School band providing music. Rev Wayne Gash of First Nazarene Church and Roswell Ministerial Association president will preside. Rev Richard S Rounds of Aldersgate Methodist Church will deliver the message titled Life s New Beginning. All Christians are invited to attend this annual service.
