The fellow who calls on Sunday night with a dainty box of candy wins. Allen G. White and W. S. Morton, Louisville, Ky., are prospecting in the city.
Community event notice for a box supper at the Select School 311 North Penn Monday at 7 30 p m with Norvell Croft orchestra and dancing later. Punch and orange cake served at eleven. Also a piano recital by Mrs Katherine Audrain Mackay's junior class at the Christian church this afternoon assisted by Miss Nina Rabb.
High School and town baseball teams played an indoor match at the Auditorium rink last night. Six men per side, no outfielders, a rubber football used instead of a ball, with Fred Meeks as umpire. The game drew interest from American game enthusiasts.
The Elks lodge No. 969 will take sealed bids for construction of a club house and lodge building as per plans on file at The Wigwam cigar store, until Saturday noon April 18 1908. Bids may be rejected. Delivered to the committee secretary J F Hinkle chairman Fred Hunt secretary and others listed.
Attorney General Hadley plans a week long visit to Roswell after arriving by regular train. He will stay at a Riverside Irrigation Co. ranch north of town near 40 miles and visit local developments during the trip. The report notes Roswell events and state politics including a New Mexico Military Institute schedule and local baseball plans.
Dr Keaster hosts a small gathering for telephone employees at 803 North Sea Avenue with dancing cards ice cream and cake. Attendees include Frank Mark Pearl Harpold G T McQuillan and daughter E C Bennett Gail Howard Mrs Ella Willis Hattie Fitch Ida Shanks Lloyd Bennett and others. Eye testing offered free at L B Boehner’s Jeweler and Optician.
A large crowd attended a wild west show at Amusement Park yesterday afternoon but were disappointed as horses proved tame. Cowboys Ish Shields Johnnie Wilson Willie Babb Raymond Meeks and Lee Drury rode without incidents while Wilson rode the pitching mule after a special collection. Henry Russell judged and awarded first prize to Lee Drury and second to Shields.
In a city visit, Roswell Title and Trust Co invites home seekers to stop by their office and receive a nice souvenir to take home, encouraging engagement with their services during the stay.
Great Britain invited governments from the Hague talks to send experts to London to draft a code of procedure for an international prize court. The United States will be represented, with likely only a small appropriation needed for expenses. The note appears informal and not requiring new legislation.
