The cadets delivered a decisive win over the visiting team in their second matchup of the season. Strong defense and efficient offense led to a commanding lead and a clear final margin. The victory showcased the cadets’ growing cohesion and scoring depth.
The Military Institute cadets defeated Canyon City 9 to 2 at Amusement Park in their second of three games. Chinn pitched well for the cadets with eight hits allowed. Mitchell fanned twelve for the visitors. Crowell hit a three bagger and Hester added a two bagger as the locals capitalized on errors and timely hitting to build early leads and secure the win.
The Roswell team plans to bolster its infield for an upcoming game with Earl Fry from Bartlesville Oklahoma arriving by Thursday. Fry is a fast shortstop or second baseman and arrives with strong recommendations.
D C Willoughby sought for money by false pretenses over thousands of acres of government land and fraudulent deeds. He fled New York for Europe aboard the Kaiser Wilhelm II as officers chased to the pier. Attempts to arrest him will continue on arrival in England with victims in Des Moines Omaha and Denver and elsewhere.
The ladies of St. Andrews Guild hosted a reception at the home of Mr and Mrs John W Rhea on Sixth street and Pennsylvania avenue for the Roswell parish. A Norvell Orchestra program featured Miss Gertrude Wiggins, Miss Katheryn Bean, Mrs W S Kilgour, Miss Edna Littlefield and a luncheon of sandwiches and coffee. The event honored the new Episcopal Rector and was well attended.

The Pecos Valley Drug Company holds its annual ice cream soda fountain opening tonight with free service for every visitor. If today’s weather holds, a record crowd is expected as this is the season’s best ice cream weather.

Frank Neiderkorn aged 20 years and six months died Monday morning at eight at his father's home on Bland street South Hill from tuberculosis. Funeral was held at 8:30 this morning at the Roman Catholic church with Holy Mass and sermon. Interment followed at South Side cemetery. The family came from St. Louis recently and will make Reewell their home.
Mrs Sarah Miles Canna an early Daughters of Rebekah member and the only woman ever conferred the degree of Chivalry by the S O O F died yesterday at 82 from paralysis in Kansas City She was a cousin of General Nelson A Miles
The Lincoln Savings Bank and Trust Co of Philadelphia closed its doors today. In operation for ten years, it served city contractors as a depository with a comparatively small amount of money involved in the failure.

W R Ferris aged 57 died Tuesday afternoon at four at 215 N Pecos where he lived with his wife who came from Cincinnati earlier this year seeking treatment for consumption. The remains were moved to Dilley undertaking parlors and will be shipped tomorrow to his old home with the widow.

Manager Oscar I Smith says the team is treated royally and enjoys the stay as they tour nearby farming country with irrigation work praised. The final Roswell game with the Military Institute is set for this afternoon, with a possible trip to Artesia for two more games.
Miss Mary Greenlee a Central School teacher was surprised at her home on Missouri avenue by a large party of school friends. The gathering included young men and women, boys and girls with refreshments and games ensuring a good time for all.

A Roswell welcome greets a Streator Illinois resident returning in fall with family to reside. He owns two top farms and large orchards in the valley and is expected to be a splendid addition to Roswell’s citizenship. He plans to stay.

Bird, Barnett & Divers report a sale to an Amarillo cattleman of their Panhandle ranch and cattle for a total of 90000 dollars. The herd averaged about 15 dollars per head.
All ladies of the M. EB Church South are urged to attend an important church meeting Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at the church. Ladies who will assist in waiting on tables next week are requested to be present.

Mr and Mrs H W Jones and I left this morning for their home in Pueblo Colorado. They have been visiting Mr Jones father H F Jones of Eight Mile Valley since January 206. They are in love with our climate.
