Washington April 6 AP Evidence Cities Service Company drew 1,146,518,000 from investors 1927 through 1930 and used 965,000,000 to prop up stock prices amid a high pressure sales campaign. Federal Trade Commission chief counsel Healy testified to the Senate Banking Committee, saying the firm bought 73 percent of market stock during four years and that market operations were among the most striking items in utilities probes. The panel prepared to vote on the stock market bill in executive session as it considers tighter regulation.

Minneapolis April 6 AP three thousand unemployed rioted at City Hall and Courthouse injuring four police a woman and sixteen others. Tear gas and machine guns were used as authorities sought to restore order. Twenty arrested. Courts closed as windows were smashed and mobs jeered while chaos spread through the area.

Music Festival Draws 300 Plus High School Musicians

Over 300 high school musicians from across New Mexico participate in the New Mexico Music Festival at the junior high auditorium. The All State High School Band, directed by University of Michigan’s Joseph E. Maddy, performed with a program tonight and tomorrow’s finale features the band and chorus at Carlsbad Caverns. Tomorrow marks Governor’s Day with Roswell seniors visiting the caverns.
