High School seniors skipped classes yesterday and led a campus-wide April Fool prank by gathering for an all day picnic at the Berrendo. Other students joined, securing a hay ride and planning a countryside picnic dinner, while the event disrupted normal activities.
A Democratic mayoral candidate and Citizens' No License candidate face voters with a requirement to name whom they would appoint as Police Judge. A high wind intensified the blaze as six firefighters were injured when a porch collapsed from the second story, yet firefighting continued.

John Shannon a 49 year old Grant County resident and former Buffalo Bill's performer died at Santa Rita when he was crushed between a flywheel and belt in the concentrator engine room. He was known as the first white child born in close one and had earned fame as a bronco buster and horseman. Shannon, while adjusting machinery, lost balance and was pulled into the 16 inch belt, his body subsequently mangled.
Roswell gallery displays rare Genuine Platinum Prints of Art Studies ending with an exhibition on Saturday. Window viewing encouraged at 117 W. 4th St and 2413 Turner Studio locations. Parents and artists collaborate to showcase unique prints never seen locally.
The Lyric Theatre screens the 2500 foot Johnson Ketchel fight on Monday and Tuesday with matinees at 3 and 5 alongside the 7 and 8:30 p.m. shows. The one hour film has drawn keen interest from sport roving people nationwide. The Patterson sisters perform song and dance between shows. Admission is 25 cents for all.
