Rossburn Village Council approves grants and agreements
The Rossburn council met September 14 1978 and approved minutes readings grant receipts totaling 350 to arena operations and 7007 under Canada Works for arena renovations. It accepted drainage right of way agreements and instructed land title caveats. A $10 donation to The Children's Aid Society of Western Manitoba was approved. A letter to Minister Otto Lang was authorized.

4-H Sewing Sisters Elect Officers for Year
The Rossburn group elected officers: President Tracey Peck, Vice President Lori McKietiuk, Secretary Marianne Hryciuk, Treasurer Jo-Anne Antonin, News Reporter Sharon Kreshewski, Club Leader Vi McKietiuk. Unit leaders were chosen for Units A to D, with project heads named for Food Arts and Crafts and other roles. Twenty six members enrolled at the meeting.

Solsgirth 4H Light Horse Wind-Up at Charlie Butler Farm
The Solsgirth 4H club held its year end wind-up at Charlie Butler farm on September 17. Judges were Mrs. Shirley Ryan and Miss Julie Ryan for horse classes and Mrs. Carolynne Nickel for Leather Project. Candy Bergeson won the Championship ribbon for highest points with Doug Bergeson named Reserve Champion. Junior and Senior Leather Project awards went to Rossburn and Oakburn participants, with all members receiving red or green ribbons. Special donors Mr. and Mrs. Walt Butcher and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Johnston funded prize money, and the day ended with a wiener roast and social hour.

Pelly Trail School Board Upholds Angusville Closure
At a September 25 meeting the Pelly Trail School Division reaffirmed the decision to close Angusville School effective June 30 1978 despite a parents delegation. The move stems from a 1969 plan to add facilities in Russell and shift resources accordingly under the Public Schools Act. The board stressed local control in educational services.

Registration on Sept 25 drew only 10 boys and four parents. Deadline is Oct 17. 78 79 executive includes President Rick Pilaisier Secretary Shirley Kalyniuk Treasurer Marion Krechewski and several committee members. Fees rise to 8 per boy with 2 from the committee. Fundraising plans include candles sales bottle drive tea and bake sale. Call for second hand uniforms and for men to join as cub and scout leaders.
