KRYWULAK Born to Dr. and Mrs. W Krywulak of Roessburn a son on Sept 25.
The Neepawa Health Unit covers about 2000 square miles with 26006 people, serving Langford Rosedale Westbourne Landsdowne Glenelia Lakeview Sask atchewan Clanwilliam Odanah Minto Harrison and unorganized territory. It runs an immunization program for the area and polio shots are routinely given in Baby Clinics and available to expectant mothers.
A new sidewalk section on Victoria Avenue east has been completed this week under Vernon Hamilton and local workers. Despite cool and occasionally shower weather, the project advances, aiming to reduce spring and summer runoff problems for nearby property owners. The sidewalk runs along Victoria Avenue from the bank to the drainage ditch near Bill Kacan's property. Plans call for widening the west sidewalk on Mountain Avenue from the town hall to Marshall Wells.
Bob Stitt sets a new potato weight record with a three and three quarter pounder. The event notes him as the holder of the heaviest potato ever recorded in the local contest.
The past week in Titania shows notable temperature swings with higher daytime highs and cooler nights. Rainfall was recorded but remained light, contributing to the weekly climate pattern observed by local meteorologists.

Mrs J Peden hosted a birthday tea on Friday September 20 in honor of Mrs W Tailby of Los Angeles California. Attending were Mrs Tailbys mother Mrs Clara Peden and aunts Mrs M D Hmiston Mrs W J Hamilton and Mrs Nona Peden. Also present were Mrs Walter Day and gift presenter Mrs M D Hamilton.
Mr Ernie Maduke of Global Enterprize in Natale Alaska visits his parents Mr and Mrs Peter Maduke. Miss Nadia Wasilka of Winnipeg visits the area with her parents Mr and Mrs M B Wasilka over the weekend.
Erickson hosts a wrestling card led by the Manitoba Tag Team Championship match Al Mills and Tiny Mills versus Bronko Nagurski and Farmer Boy with two falls and 45 minutes. Roy McLarty vs Mr. Hito, two out of three falls, 45 minutes. Joe Pazandak vs Jack Witzik, two of three falls, 30 minutes. Chamber of Commerce expects a sell-out. Local stores close at 9 pm Saturday to avoid missing the show. Tickets available at the Commercial Hotel and advance sales by Thursday evening News Office.
A limnological survey of Fishing Lake by Manitoba Fisheries Branch biologist Lief Sunde and Holly Burrell reports a good lake for fishing. Nets captured 187 suckers 156 perch 56 pickerel and 1 jackfish with weights ranging to over ten pounds. The lake is 22 feet deep in the south and 21 feet in the north with strong oxygen and abundant primary food.
Winnipeg visitors Joe Lechowicz and family arrived to visit Mrs Lechowicz and left for home after a duck hunting outing. The September WMS meeting at Mrs Rinn's had five members. treasurer report $5.59, birthday money $1, plan to order Christmas cards, November 6 apron sale, October meeting to include subscriptions, and a Thanksgiving item appeal. Flowers sent to Mrs May Turnbull. minister Mr Woitte returning to United College. greetings to several local residents with September birthdays.
Margaret Isabele Nichols wed John William Garfield on September 14 at Dropmore United Church. Rev J Harland officiated with organist Mrs G Hunter and soloist Mrs J Roe. The couple's reception followed at the bride’s home.
A reunion gathered 83 family members at the Gordon Taylor home. Five grandchildren could not attend. Attendees named include Harold Taylor and E Robson of Melita, Leslie Taylor of Edmonton, Bruce and Keith Taylor, and others from Rossburn, Onanecle, Brandon, and Carroll. A turkey dinner marked the event.
About forty five ladies met at the Halewski home in Winnipeg on September 17 to honor Miss Margaret Cameron a bride-elect of October 19. She received a rose corsage and was escorted to a decorated chair as Raymond Halowski played the wedding match with Wendy Anne Halowski assisting. The group opened gifts, sang For She’s A Jolly Good Fellow, and three Bingo games were won before lunch served by Mrs. D Yaskiw Miss J Eslinger and Mrs. M J Halowski.
Vista W I held its September meeting at Mrs. Nettie Hrysak's with six members and one visitor. The group voted to invite neighboring institutes and grandmothers in the district, and noted next month’s meeting at Dorothy Armstrong's. A recent afternoon at the hall featured slides by Mrs. Tailby, a sing song, and lunch.
