Seniors see investment income drop as rates fall
Statistics Canada reports a 15.1 percent decline in investment income for seniors 55 and older in 1992, lowering average annual income from 10 086 to 8 568. Manitoba shows high senior population share with median incomes for age groups 55 64 65 74 and over 75 ranging from 45 600 to 25 900. Investments provide about 13 percent of senior income, with pensions and work remaining dominant.
