H Miller of the Central Experimental Farm Ottawa demonstrates a Dough Expansion Tester. The device gauges baking qualities of new wheats by dough expansion in early fermentation. A volume apparatus measures loaf size with top and bottom containers and a turnip seed tube to gauge displacement.
A quiet ceremony at Robertson Memorial United Church August 16 united Helen Parypa and John Kozun in a double ring wedding officiated by Rev. J. R. Kovalevich. The bride, daughter of Nick and Mrs. Parypa of Grandview, wore a light blue suit and pink rose corsage. Attendants were Barbara Hume and Matt Parypa. A reception followed at the couple’s new suite, then a trip to West Hawk Lake and Kenora before settling at 450 Lipton Street, Winnipeg.
ROSSBURN A ladies bowling league was formed this past week with about 50 members. There is still time for any lady wishing to bowl to get in the league as all are welcome. The officers are: Mrs. Lindsay President Mrs. Langridge Secretary.
A reader proposes adding a weekly Rossburn weather feature to the paper to attract distant readers. The suggestion asks for a forecast style column covering conditions, temperatures, and notable changes each week for Rossburn.
The regular monthly meeting of the United Church W A held September 14 in the church clubroom. Plans were made for a pran and Home Cooking Sale and Tea in November and a Fowl Supper in October. A programme followed with lunch served by Pat Oates Amelia Cormack and Mrs Archie Smith.

Murray Cormack misplaced his university ring in a 50 acre field last week and found it undamaged on Tuesday this week. The recovery ends a brief search and restores the ring to the graduate.
The Manitoba Farmers Union District 2 board met at Shoal Lake on Saturday September 11 with all directors present except John Mansell. Dave Neable read minutes and reported District 3 cash on hand at 284.87. Neable was re elected Secretary Treasurer at 25 per year. Plans include outreach to flooded-area farmers with PFRA aid, a membership drive starting November 1 for about three weeks, and meetings with outside speakers where possible.
Winnipeg physician Dr Peikoff made a recent visit to the city, meeting local residents and sharing insights during his stay.
Arnold H. Hoffer a Manitoba graduate and locomotive design engineer at Erie Pennsylvania won first prize in an Erie section AIEE competition for his technical paper on an electric drive for rotary snow plows The paper details the drive powering the world s largest rotary snow plow He is the son of Mrs Rose Peikoff Hoffer and the late Mayer Hoffer
C C F meeting at Rossburn The Forrester's Lodge held its regular monthly session in the Legion Hall Monday evening September 13 Plans were completed for a barn dance this Friday and another dance to be held in October.
On Saturday September 18 taggers will canvass for the Canadian Institute for the Blind. Give generously for this splendid cause.
Rossburn reports the new town ditch is finished with J S Quinn Construction Company handling the work. The drain empties into Harry Belinsky's field and locals watched equipment being loaded on Wednesday afternoon as a cool wind kept the crowd modest.
