The Rossburn United Church pastor Rev M E Nixon died suddenly from a heart attack at 73. Funeral services will be held at Rossburn United Church on Saturday at 2 30 p m with interment in Rossburn cemetery.

Born 1902 in Austin Manitoba, he served in RCASC motorcycle corps starting 1939, wounded in Italy 1944, invalided home 1945, later worked for provincial government at Tuxedo Normal School, died August 24 1948 at Deere Lodge Military Hospital. Survived by eight siblings. services led by Rev Zwicker with Legion graveside honor guard.

Pretty Wedding in Winnipeg at Beulah Baptist Church
A candlelight wedding took place September 3 at Beulah Baptist Church Winnipeg with Yvonne Paradice marrying Arthur Burton of Victoria British Columbia. Rev L Pierce officiated. The bride wore a white nylon organza gown with a beaded tiara veil and carried white gladioli and red roses. The reception was at West Kildonan Legion Hall and the couple plan a brief honeymoon in northern Manitoba before settling in Victoria.

Two Men Held In Brandon Over Birdtail Robbery
Mike Abramchuk and John Oryniak are in Brandon jail after pleading guilty to breaking into the Birdtail Store and stealing a safe with over 2700 in cheques postal notes and cash. The crime occurred last Saturday night the safe was taken northeast of Birdtail.

Indian Wounded In Shooting Fracas
Roderick Bone was sentenced to two years at Manitoba Penitentiary after a Rossburn trial. He was charged with wounding Joe Meacus of the Waywayseecappo Indian Reserve. The shooting occurred August 28 when Bone fired a shotgun through Meacus's door.
