Rossburn Rural Council Seeks Roadwork and Help

The Rossburn rural council met September 3 with full attendance. Minutes were read and adopted. A grant road inspection west of Vista and Birdtail Creek bridge repairs were proposed with Good Roads department assistance. One disability allowance and one Old Age Assistance application approved. A $25 grant to the Salvation Army was approved. Bills were paid and meeting adjourned to October 8, 1955.

Rossburn Village Council Accepts Constable Resignation

A special Rossburn village council meeting on September 6 1955 with five members present accepted the resignation of Wasyl Danyleyko as village constable effective September 13 1955. The council announced advertising for applications to fill the position and adjourned to the regular meeting.

Libbey Family Band At Rossburn Pentecostal Meetings

The Libbey family band of ten performed at the Rossburn Pentecostal Church for three nights of gospel meetings. They played brass and strings, sang, and preached with one member doubling on two trumpets. Attendance was good and several decisions for the Lord were reported.

Several individuals plan returning to duties at Lynn Lake, Provincial Normal School, or other postings as weekend guests and departures.

Shower Honors Bride Elect Rossburn

A miscellaneous shower at United Church Annex honored Lucille Stitt bride elect of September 17. Hosts included Mesdames Pom hichuk and Grookshanks with G Taylor and others. Corsages, gifts, a reading of the address, and a communal lunch closed the evening.

Farewell Honors Mrs. Nona Peden in Rossburn

A farewell party was held at the Town Hall for Mrs. Nona Peden who will reside in Winnipeg. Laird Duncanson spoke of her life in Rossburn where she came as a teacher at Bryan school and has lived since. A poem titled A House by the Road was dedicated. Mrs. Jack Lindsay chaired musical items by Lesia Chopp Judy Huston Keith Elvers Mrs. Dave Maxwell and Mrs. Lorne Plant. Harris Huston read the community address and a lunch was served to a large gathering.

Tuberculosis Survey Schedule for Rossburn Area

The Tuberculosis Survey runs September 8 to 13 in Rossburn area sites Valley School Rossburn Town Hall Olha Hall Vista Hall. Pupils x rayed September 9 1 to 2 p.m. public 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Attendance aims to exceed last year’s 65 percent and detect other chest abnormalities. Continuous participation urged for health interests.

Pentecostal Rally Draws A Carload To Virden

A Pentecostal church group traveled to Virden on Monday for the Christ Ambassador's Rally. Attendees included Rev. I. Roset, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peden, Mrs. Clara Peden, Miss Joyce Mitchell, and Irwin Mitchell. The program featured several CA speakers, singing, Libby Family Band music, lunch, and friendly fellowship.
