Prairie fire burns over seven miles near Foxwarren
Firefighters from Birtle Foxwarren and mutual aid crews battled a blaze covering over seven and a half square miles of farm land near Foxwarren on August 29. Wind to 75 kmh fueled a wall of flame while crews plowed firebreaks and fought hot spots. Damages include a yard and McCauley buildings with grain and lumber losses. cause under investigation.

New baiting limits for fall black bear hunt announced
Natural Resources Minister Al Mackling releases restrictions on baiting for the upcoming fall black bear season. Livestock carcasses may not be used unless disease free. site bait limit 100 kilograms. no bait within 500 metres of cottages or campgrounds and within 200 metres of roads. all baits must carry name and address of the baiter. Season opens August 27 and runs to November 17 in multiple Game Hunting Areas. residents may take two bears, non residents one. females with cubs prohibited. Riding Mountain National Park and Birds Hill Provincial Park hunting is prohibited. Further details through the Department of Natural Resources.
