Fine weather this week boosted Water works construction as sewer mains near completion from the William Williamson residence to Kachan's shop along Victoria Avenue with crossings under the CNR tracks pending. First and Fourth Streets and Main Street from Mountain Avenue to Railway Avenue are done, as is Railway Avenue to Beaver Lumber Co. corner. Driving around town may be disrupted by heavy rain, but the improved waterworks will bring added comforts.

Manitoban Buck Matiowsky admitted to Ontario recreation course
Buck Matiowsky a former Oakburn resident and northern Manitoba recreation leader has been admitted to a two year diploma program in Recreation Administration at the Ontario Federated Colleges in Guelph. He will be the first Manitoban to pursue this course, previously serving as recreation director in Lynn Lake Shoal Lake Bissett and Oakburn and coaching a Lynn Lake Pee Wee hockey team reaching the Canadian finals at Goderich.

The Manitoba Service Centre of the CNIB extends a plan of free services for registered blind Manitobans.
