Rossburn Elementary and Rossburn Collegiate reopen for the fall term with enrollment rising. Elementary posted 444 students on Sept 3 and expects 30 to 40 more. Collegiate enrollment around 187, likely over 190 final. Staff and class rosters listed. final figures and subject lists to be published next issue.
A daughter Cynthia Ann was born August 31 1969 at 3 55 am at Sacred Heart Hospital Russell to Mr and Mrs Andrew Matiowsky of Solsgirth. She weighed 8 lb 11 oz and is a sister to Arnold Margaret David Calvin and Conrad. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs John Matiowsky and Mr and Mrs John Koscelny of Rossburn.
Ronnie Taylor son of Mr and Mrs Wm Taylor receives a 450 bursary from the Manitoba Government. He will begin second year arts at Brandon University this coming term.
Rowatt Veitch claimed third prize in the Fourth Flight at the Hamiota Golf Tournament. The event highlighted local players competing for division honors and prize money.
Toronto Ontario pastor Rev. Ernie Derkatch has become the new pastor of the Rossburn Pentecostal Church arriving in town on Tuesday to begin his duties.
The 1969 Heart Fund campaign in Manitoba raised 173853 in total contributions to support the Heart Foundation fight against heart disease. Rossburn citizens donated 70 to the effort.

A Manitoba bill introduced for second reading on August 21 by Youth and Education Minister Saul Miller would include Indian reservations in school divisions and standardize trustee qualifications. Indians on reservations could vote for division trustees and sit on boards if elected after a petition and hearing process.
The Rossburn annual Sports Day on June 21 featured Ron Major and Frances Walmsley presenting $714.19 to Rossburn Lions Club president Lloyd Willett on behalf of the R.C.I. students. funds raised at the March Skate-a-thon support the Lions Club Centennial Project Old Folks Home.
A double ring ceremony united Elsie Wilk and William Macksymchuk at the Holy Euch arist Ukrainian Catholic Church Oakburn officiated by Father Borys. Attendants included Kay Wilk as maid of honor and Winnipeg and Strathclair guests. The couple plans to reside in Sandy Lake Manitoba.
A severe wind event last Wednesday near Vista damaged granaries and homes. Lightning struck Jim Lillie’s granary, Melvin Woychyshyn lost two grain bins and a garage, a metal bin was lifted, trees uprooted, crops and gardens harmed, and hay lofts were scattered. No injuries reported.
