On Sunday August 30 1964 St Helen s Shoal Lake Roman Catholic Parish held a farewell dinner for Father John Mendyka at the Shoal Lake Ukrainian Hall. Mrs Mary Raskin presented a desk set, Ken Drozda gave the farewell address, and Father Mendyka thanked the congregation. Father Jakrowski visited to wish him success in Tolstoi Manitoba.

Saffron Sheremata died Friday at Birtle Hospital at 93. Ukrainian Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church member born in the Ukraine, he came to Canada in 1899, settled Rossburn, later Solsgirth. Survived by wife? no. eight children Bill Rossburn Nettie Cooley Anne Youngman Dora Hukalow Kay Slobodeski Martha Davidson Nellie Sheremata Teenie Sheremata Vivian Garett. eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Manitoba to End Daylight Saving Time This Weekend
Daylight saving time ends in Manitoba on the night of September 12-13 with standard time resuming at 3 am on September 13. Manitobans gain an extra hour that Sunday morning as clocks revert, under the Official Time Act of 1963 which ties summer time end to the weekend after Labour Day.

Newdale Sewage Loan Approved in Harrison Manitoba
Ottawa announces a federal loan of 18 333 to Harrison Rural Municipality Manitoba under the National Housing Act to support a Newdale sewage project. The 20 year loan at 5 3 8 percent finances a pumping station four inch force main and a stabilization pond with potential 25 percent principal forgiveness if work is completed by March 31 1967.

30th Wedding Anniversary for Stanley and Family Celebrants
Close to 200 people gathered at Oakburn Parish Hall on August 22 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Antonation on their 30th wedding anniversary. Rev. R Zakrowsky officiated the Moleben and Eucharist.
