WMS Rally Attended In Russell Also Local News

Mrs Natver Mamitten and Mrs W J Hamilton joined the WMS Rally in Russell on October 29. Mr and Mrs Jack Miller returned from Winnipeg. Miss D Penstock visited Mrs Ewashko. Mr Alex Sinclair of B C visited Mr and Mrs M D Hamilton. Willis Stitt and Winnipeg visitors stay with the Stitts. Boys and Girls Clubs held a successful fair with grain cooking and handiwork displays. hogs and poultry praised. prize winners to be announced later. Locals drove to Rivers to see the Royal couple.

Wedding in Angusville Unites Magnoski and Pushka Names

Victoria Magnoski and Peter Pushka exchanged marriage vows at the Greek Catholic Church in Angusville on October 23 at 11 am. Rev. Father Luchkin officiated. The bride wore a white satin gown with lace panels and a pearl necklace, with a halo of seed pearls for her veil. Annie Magnoski served as maid of honor with Olive McTnyk and Nellie Ewashuk as bridesmaids. The groom was supported by cousins Paul Luba, Bill Sydoryk, and Roy Magnoski. A dinner followed at the bride’s home and a reception was held at Russell Memorial Hall.

Fowl Supper in Rossburn Hall Draws 314 Attendees

A United Church Ladies Aid supper in Rossburn Hall drew 314 attendees on Tuesday evening. Local IH C Dealer C A Menzies organized an evening of entertainment featuring The Family Party, The Lost Week End, ventriloquist Ray Conlin, accordionist Al DePaulis, dancer Betty Hill, and M C Wally Sands. Jean Garry helped with The Lost Week End act and Tom Garry impressed with seating and whip work. An opening wildlife film showcased African animal photography.

September 1951 Manitoba accident death toll report

The September 1951 safety summary by W Trevor Davies reports 19 deaths from accidents in Manitoba that month, including one in industry, five in homes, and 13 by other causes. It notes August had 26 deaths and September 1950 total fatalities were 32. Through nine months, 226 Manitoba deaths are recorded: 17 industrial, 105 home, 104 general. asphyxia caused one industrial, two home, and one other fatality. Falls caused multiple home and general fatalities and one serious industrial accident.

Chart shows city funds control split by Moffat chart

Mayor Moffat drew a chart before Nomination Day that drew interest. The chart illustrates how the council's money is allocated with about 64 cents of every dollar in controllable purposes and just over 36 cents for administration social services protection and public works.

Memorial Service Remembrance Day Observed in Rossburn

The annual memorial service will be held Sunday November 11 at 2 p.m. in the Rossburn Town Hall to honor those who gave their lives. Veterans will assemble at the Legion Hall for the parade to the Town Hall.

Regina student wins $200 scholarship for chemistry

Miss Shmyr daughter of Mr and Mrs S Shmyr of Regina and formerly of Rossburn earned a $200 scholarship from the Women's University Club. She attends the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and is pursuing an honours chemistry course.

Arthur Alexander McIntosh laid to rest in Kamloops

Arthur Alexander McIntosh died after a lengthy illness at Royal Inland Hospital Kamloops B C and was buried in Hillside Cemetery Kamloops The service was led by Pastor Gaylordi of Dwyers Funeral Chapel He is survived by his wife Doris son Barry daughter Heather and several relatives across Manitoba Saskatchewan and British Columbia
