Village Council Reports Road Work and Budget Actions
The Village of Rossburn council met in council chambers on October 14 1976 to revise the 1977 General and Business Assessment Rolls and hear complaints. The court sustained two assessments and planned a further review in 1977. The board discussed Highway No 254 repairs drainage crosswalks street sweeping and seal coat deterioration and requested asphalt surface work from No 45 highway to the railway crossing and east to the police barracks. Ellen Street to be oil surfaced in 1977 under a 50 50 cost share. The council authorized land inquiry for community expansion and increased liability coverage for Lions Club Arena. Waterworks payments to the superintendent were to be passed through. Building permits and truck tender notices were approved with details.

Local Riding Club Hosts First Trail Ride in Park
The Ross burn Riding Club led a first trail ride into Riding Mountain National Park on October 17. Departing north of Frank Madaniuks at 12 30 p m, riders with ponies and horses rode to the park for lunch and returned by about 3 15 p m. Members anticipate another spring ride and more club activities, with meetings postponed until early spring as they prepare for summer participation.

4 H Leaders Assoc Fall Supper Meeting Held in Russell
Russell and area 4 H Leaders Assoc held its fall supper meeting on October 20 at the United Church in Russell. Attendees from Rossburn included Marion Radford Marion Antonin Alice Hryciuk Linda Hunter Yvonne Lawson Rosemary Smith and Vivian Henderson. Marion Radford completed a two year term as president of the Ladies Assoc. The Rossburn representative for the next two years will be Alice Hryciuk.

The Rossburn Arena Building Committee reports total funds raised of 17108.18 and 20103.45 paid out. A bank loan of about 3000 covers the gap, leaving the project roughly one third complete. Beam erection was completed on Wednesday and further fundraisers including a talent night and auction are planned.
