Marquette Liberals Plan Annual Meeting in Minnedosa
The Marquette Liberal Association will hold a dinner and public meeting in Minnedosa to discuss the new enlarged constituency and events from November 7. A dinner speaker from Ottawa will attend a $5 plate dinner followed by an officers’ election at the Legion Hall. The program includes debates on the Saskatoon and Ottawa conferences and regional chairman appointments.

Fire destroys farm home on Marion Day’s property
A blaze at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday destroyed Marion Day’s north east of town farm home, a three story landmark built by Robert Peden in 1906. Ressburn Fire Brigade battled the fire but most furniture was lost while Marion saved several antiques, marking another link to a past era.

Fishing Lake Centennial Committee Meeting
The Fishing Lake Centennial committee met on October 13 with ten members and the resort buildings contractor present. Minutes of the last two meetings were adopted. The Golf Club was asked to finish the Wishing Well. oil and varnish coating chosen for new buildings. Expenditure totaled 3,900.00. A motion urged drafting a grant submission to the Centennial Corporation and to haul 15 more loads of gravel for cementing. Five women will help name the lake from 47 entries. The meeting adjourned.

Rossburn Village Council Meeting October 18 1966
The Village of Rossburn council met in the council chambers on October 18 1966 with Mayor Peter Wladyka and Councillors Antonin Drosdoski Verbowski and Komhyr present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The financial report for September 30 1966 was adopted. The constable's report was adopted. A $10 grant to The Children's Aid Society of Western Manitoba was approved. A resolution to support policing villages in the province was carried. Building permits for Baydock Mitchell Semeniuk N K Scarrow and Sterling Veitch were approved. Last month’s bills totaling 3821.73 were passed for payment. Rossburn clinches league title after tough Russell showdown
In a hard fought chase for the Riding Mountain crown Russell defeated Rossburn on Oct 24 to seal the championship. Leonard Mackedenki led Rossburn with 12 points as Brian Brown navigated pressure to connect a late long pass to Mackedenki in the end zone.
