Ward 2 in Rossburn reelects Hyra 60 to 64 against Plant, while Belbas and Cleland polls favor Hyra. School trustees see Hutton top with 183 and Huston reappointed with 143. Sicinski defeated at 109. Voter turnout high despite bad roads. Plant faces road repair duties next year.

Elphinstone Girl Dies in Winnipeg Hospital
Miss Jean Anchuk aged 12 daughter of Mr and Mrs K Anchuk of Elphinstone died at Winnipeg General Hospital Friday Oct 6 after a month as patient. Her funeral was held Oct 10 at Sandy Lake Greek Orthodox Church with Rev Stratychuk officiating. Burial followed at Sandy Lake cemetery.

Hereford stock sale boosts Flood Relief Fund total
Attendees Bert Mitchell Bob Stitt John Williamson and John Mitchell led a Brandon sale for United Kingdom Foundation Breeding Stock last Saturday. Cattle brought over 3000 dollars each with total stock proceeds of 66 500 dollars. Britain donated the amount to flood relief. A Hereford heifer rising three years sold for 700 dollars to Bert Mitchell despite an 800 dollar offer.

Bishop Reberecky Council Sets Street Light Upgrades
The Rossburn village council planned to install four new street lights including one near the National Elevator and three on King Street. They also moved a light in front of the Craig home, adjourned after routine accounts, and scheduled a meeting for November 21.

Sunday School Institute Meeting at Russell
A Sunday School Institute for the northern section of the United Church Presbytery of Birtle met in Russell on Wednesday October 18 with about 75 delegates. Attendees from Rossburn included several named ladies and Miss Florence Clucas plus three delegates from Vista. The theme was Youth For Christ.

Evangelist H. Goldsack from Folkestone England spoke at both services and the Sunday School of the Pentecostal Church on Oct 22.
