In regular session council approves final reading of a by law setting a 20 MPH speed limit for the Silver Beach resort area. Debates over a special levy for garbage pickup and a 12 percent tax arrears penalty were noted. Accounts totaling 1222.12 and 6487.87 were approved. Next meeting November 5 at 1 PM.
Following a fine weekend, sunny weather continued this week aiding farming crews in harvesting. The report notes hope the sunshine remains with this week similar to last year’s pattern. Highest 63 and lowest 21 referenced.
A reader notes signs of spring as Mrs George Rad ford finds crocuses near their home on Thursday. Meanwhile Rod Les chasin from Winnipeg gathers a bag of young wild mushrooms on October 15 near Marco.
Nearly 60 spectators watched the Fatmen prevail 44 to 37 over the Venturers in the 2nd annual Toilet Bowl. Officials Rick and Jim aided the Fat men in the one sided contest as Rossbun Venturer Co. thanks supporters and announces a third annual Toilet Bowl next year.
A Rossburn Hornets hockey meeting is scheduled Thursday October 30 at 8:00 p.m. in the town hall basement. Tuesday's gathering set initial plans and the player committee reports will be discussed next Thursday. Officers will be elected at the upcoming meeting.
John Mitchell secured a decisive victory over Mike Gawryluk with 310 votes to 133, signaling a strong public preference for his return as Reeve after a brief hiatus. In Ward Three, William Antonow defeated incumbent Charlie Derlagg by a wide margin, 104 to 41, in the council race.
The Rossburn village council met at 7 30 p m with Mayor Louis Kurchaba and councillors Plaisier Drosdos ki and Lee present. Harold Sion was absent. Minutes from the last regular meeting and the September 30 1975 special meeting were read and adopted.
In Rossburn the village council election saw Plaisier top the poll in a 217 vote bid for re election and Miron Swintak win a seat with 173 votes. George Phelps fell short with 117 votes as 291 of 510 eligible voters cast ballots.
Winners listed for a Lions Club bingo night on Wednesday October 22 include Helen Sidlar Ms Pete Melnyk Jean Chuckrey Jim Lilley with ten dollar ties and larger prizes such as Anne Maydaniuk totaling one thousand dollars Steve Maydaniuk and Lionel Harrison also receiving ten and one hundred fifty dollar awards respectively.
