The Pelly Trail School Division reports on its inaugural period from April 6 to October 1, noting 27 board meetings and many committee sessions with local groups. It details organization, budgeting, staffing, pupil accommodation, textbooks, banking, and transportation plans, plus appreciation for local boards and the secretary-treasurer.
The Rossburn Rural Municipality council met with full attendance led by Reeve Ed Shust. Minutes and financials were adopted. A snowplow was ordered for the Adams motor grader. Protests filed with the Board of Transport Commissioners. CNR retirement petition discussed. Vista 4 H Clubs granted 25 dollars. By law readings on business assessment and school district dissolution advanced. Next meeting set for November 10, 1959 at 1 pm.
The Rossburn Curling Club held its annual meeting on Tuesday the 13th 1959 in the curling rink with about 18 members present. Officers elected for 1959 60 are President John Maydaniuk Vice President Doug Joiner Secretary Ron Jackman Treasurer Bert Mitchell. Ice Committee Alex Cleland Mike Smycniuk Norman Major Draw Committee John Cormack Mike Tokar. The executive expect a good season and seek strong support from all curlers in Rossburn and district.
Voters in Essburn village will vote Friday October 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rossburn Town Hall for a two year mayoral term. Both candidates, Jae Stitt and Earl Moffat, bring long prior service and private business success.
The annual Rossburn Hospital Aid tea and shower was held in the town hall on October 17. A long list of donations followed including gowns, soap, juice, canned goods, cups and saucers, and cash. The value of all donations was recorded, receipts issued by the matron, and the hospital board then forwarded the receipt to the government.
A tribute recounts meeting Mr W Butler and his wife Amy in Rossburn and years of neighborly help. The writer recalls Butler family kindness when a stranger sought guidance and meals in the Birdtail valley area during pioneer days.
