RC I girls sweep the Beef and Barley Tournament in Russell finishing 8 0 in prelims. They beat Grandview 15 3 15 13 in the final to claim the trophy for the third consecutive year with Rossburn and Major Pratt among round robin opponents. RC I boys finish second to Grandview after a 5 3 record in round robin and 2 1 in finals.

Agriculture Minister Sam Askiw announced Dr. J. Murray Cormack as director and chairman of the Manitoba Agricultural Credit Corporation succeeding M. G. Hofford. Cormack will serve part time while remaining general manager operations at Manitoba Pool Elevators. Born November 14 1934 in Rossburn he holds degrees from Manitoba Nebraska and Iowa State and has served in multiple agricultural roles including deputy minister of agriculture from 1968 to 1973.
