October Meeting of the W I Club Holds 15 Members
The October meeting on Tuesday October 4 at 3 00 p m drew 15 members and 1 visitor. The program included recitations by Robert Ukrainetz and Calvin McFarlane a piano solo by Miss Finlay and two contests won by Mrs. Howard McIntosh and Mrs. Mackedenski. A dainty lunch followed the closing Queen.

Delegates Attend Youth Gathering at Dauphin
Vista Manitoba United Church Young People's Union held a three day convention over Thanks giving weekend October 8 to 10 in Dauphin. Attendees from Vista EPU included Lyall Brown Peggy Hamilton Florence Brown and Gerald Brown. Business covered reports addresses officer elections and fellowship. Manitoba Drama League adjudicated two plays in the conference finals. Theme speaker Rev. Douglas Lauchlan and address by Rev. Wm Clark inspired about Our Strength and Our Salvation. About three hundred seventy youths from Manitoba and Ontario United Church participated in the event.

Rural Ward Elections and School Board Nominations
Acclamations for Reeve and Mayor Elections set for Rural Wards land3 and Village Council. Three vacancies on the school board were filled by nominations of Bill Silewich Earl Taylor and Norman Major. Ward One rural council sees Hamilton versus Morley Brown with Dan Kiez withdrawing. Ward 3 contenders are Sam Trakalo and Mike Pawluk. Voting day is next Friday October 21. Vote as you please but please vote.

Local athlete Garf Lindsay leaves MacGregor for Swan River duties
A former Bank of Montreal employee Garf Lindsay, who arrived in MacGregor about a year ago from Rossburn, departs to join the B of M at Swan River. He is lauded as a top hockey scorer and a brilliant baseball catcher and batter. His colleagues surprised him with a farewell gathering at Frank Hay’s home, with best wishes from both hockey and baseball clubs.

Rural Council Meeting at Rossburn 1955
The Rural Council met in the Council Chambers on October 8 1955 with all members present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The financial report was read and adopted. One Old Age assistance application was approved. A ratepayers petition for compulsory vaccination against Bangs Disease led to a By Law plan to apply for P F A A including specified townships. Bills were approved and the meeting adjourned to November 5 1956.

M F U Board Meet at Shoal Lake Town Hall
