The North Western Marquette Festival will be hosted in Binscarth for the next two years, featuring a fall Speech Arts Festival open to children and adults. Non-competitive classes with written adjudication and merit awards cover a wide range of visual arts.
The Manitoba Jobs Fund will partner with employers to create at least 2,100 long term positions through a wage and training aid program. Len Evans, Employment Services and Economic Security Minister, says $7 million will support employers in adding jobs and developing on the job training for new hires aged 16 and over. Applications are open continuously from now to July 31, 1985, with more activity expected in winter.
Village of Rossburn held a September 13 meeting led by Mayor Louis Kurchaba with all councillors. Manitoba Hydro representatives discussed street lighting concerns for Main Street under the Manitoba Program. A sub-committee for Zone 3 may form, with Shirley Kalyniuk as representative. By law 672 passed on business and personal property assessment.
In Rossburn a Senior Citizens Bingo night saw Helen Tokar win a free lap card earlier awarded at a prior outing. With her nephew, she played September 26 and, after several games, hit the final round’s 54 numbers to complete a bingo for $350, shouting B I N G O as the announcer called the last number.
