Ukrainian veterans reunion at Sandy Lake services and parade
Members of the Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Association visited Sandy Lake on Sunday September 26 1965. Services were led by Rev S Kulak at Holy Ghost church followed by a march to the Cenotaph with wreaths laid by Legion officials and a Silver Cross mother. A luncheon at the Community Hall featured Tony Yaremovitch on Ukrainian origins in Canada and a push for a “Golden Book” of veterans to be published for Canada’s centennial in 1967.

Nomination Day Acclamations in Rossburn District
Nomination Day on Wednesday October 6 resulted in acclamations for all rural and village council and school board seats in the Rossburn area. Reeve Alex Cleland was re elected for a two year term. Morley Brown Ward 1 and Mike Gawryluk Ward 3 were also re elected by acclamation. Mayor Peter Wladyka of Rossburn and Councillors Mike Werbowski and Harry Kombyr were returned, with N Major and D Andrew re elected to the Consolidated School District of Rossburn board. Murray Kalyniuk will be the new trustee, succeeding Mike Sotas who has moved to Winnipeg.

Lions Social Evening Draws Rossburn Town Crowd
A well attended Rossburn Lions Club social on Friday night October 1 in the town hall basement drew newcomers and Birtle visitors. MC Lion Harris Huston listed the community service fund, Lion Jim Carson received a farewell Lions tie clip, and Mark Chisholm with Eugene Kaban performed folk songs before dancing. Lions chefs served coffee and a bountiful lunch.

Water Main Break Brief Shuts Rossburn Water Supply
A water main break on the main trunk line beyond the pumping station on Mountain Avenue left Rossburn residents without water from 10:45 p.m. Saturday until about 7:00 p.m. Sunday. C&C Construction excavated the break site after noon Sunday and water service was restored, marking the first serious disruption in the town’s water and sewer system.
