Waywayseecappo First Nation advances a 50 000 square foot business centre hosting a 40 room motel with 16 poolside units and a 1 053 square foot pool area. Project manager Paul Mentuck Jr. says opening is slated for later this year amid plans for eight theme rooms and a 112 seat dining area. The facility will host conferences and banquets and provide 50 new jobs, with sustained business from aboriginal communities. Located between Rosburn and Russell along Highway 45, the site already includes a gas bar, grocery store with KFC, gaming centre, restaurant, and an arena complex. Chief Murray Clearsky and council members were re-elected in spring elections.

Westman Blood Donor Clinic boosts Manitoba donor awareness
The Westman Blood Donor Clinic, established in 1997 as an eight bed satellite of Winnipeg Blood Centre, draws donors across Manitoba. In 1998 more than 4,700 in the Westman region donated, with campaign efforts urging youth ages 17 to 29 to donate more.
