Canada Post proposes rate hikes for basic and international mail
Canada Post plans to raise the basic domestic letter rate to 32 cents and U S rate to 37 cents while international letters move to 64 cents. Large volume mailers get 20 to 28.5 cent rates. a 23 cent rate targets a 250 item minimum. Several class and service increases follow plus a discontinued Postpak and higher parcel weights.

Rossburn Council sets 1982 83 standing committees
The Rossburn Village Council met November 9 1982 in council chambers and appointed Kenneth Caldwell as Deputy Mayor. Committees were formed with two councillors each plus the Mayor ex officio, with Schedule A listing members including Ernest Stefanuk Orest Smycnuik Joseph Zegalski and others. An awareness night on drug and alcohol services is set for November 26 1982 and a New Year Eve dance permit is supported for the Rossburn Minor Hockey Association. A by law amendment for debentures of 53000 is set for first reading and to be sent to the Municipal Board.
