New Executive Named by 4-H Leaders in Shoal Lake

Fifty six area 4-H leaders met at the Buffalo Plains Inn Shoal Lake on November 14 for a buffet supper with Home Economist Peggy Barker Ag Rep C Dixon and 4-H specialist B R Poston. Elected to area 4-H leaders executive were Solsgirth Mr Garry Workman Shoal Lake Mrs J Sytnyk Oakburn Mrs N Franko Rossburn Mrs L C Johnston Birtle Mr Harold Salmon and Mrs M Carscadden Strathclair Picton Brereton. The meeting discussed area 4-H programs and policies noting 1965 1966 saw 31 project 4-H clubs with 381 members. Contact local leaders or the extension office Shoal Lake for interested youths aged 10 to 21.

Birtle Hosts Cubs and Boy Scouts District Council Meeting

A Monday evening meeting in Birtle organized a Cubs and Boy Scouts District Council for the area including Birtle Russell Binscarth Foxwarren Shoal Lake Elphinstone and Rossburn. The council aims to promote better cubbing and scouting and to improve facilities and enable idea exchange with a district campsite to be developed. Vista WI Meeting Plans and Community Support

The November Vista Women's Institute meeting at Mrs. L. Hrysak's home discussed plans for the year and reviewed the District Board report. Members thanked supporters for stage decorations and clothing donations that will aid overseas needy countries. A library for adults and children is expected, and attendees enjoyed a social fimé with lunch.

Minor Hockey Association Formed at Rossburn

Tuesday evening a Minor Hockey Association was formed at Rossburn with President Sterling Palmer and officers Elmer Brown Adolph Werbowski and Erickson Ed Shust named to key posts. A league meeting report from St Lazare noted plans to enter 15 and 14 under teams in the Snake Creek League if feasible with coaches named.

Joe Bart Wins New Ford at Ford Fairlane Event

Joe Bart, former Rossburn resident and Hunt ers Paradise Motel proprietor at Shoal Lake, won a 1967 Ford Fairlane on Wednesday evening. The Ukrainian Catholic Church building committee thanked supporters and workers as proceeds aided the new church building fund.

Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary Meeting Sees Members Vote on Year Events

The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary gathered 22 members at Jeanette Labossiere's home for an exchange of gifts. Minutes were adopted, and financials noted with a $80.24 net from Cash and Poultry Bingo. They approved buying a new dressing tray and table, reappointed Sonia Melnyk to the Hospital Board, and reviewed Bazaar progress for December 3. The January meeting is set for Jan 24 at Mrs Gladys Pritchard’s. May Lawless won the hostess prize. May lawless also led adjournment.

Brandon Whips Rossburn 10 7 in Commercial League clash

Brandon beat Rossburn 10 7 at Rossburn Arena in an open, hard fought game. Brandon took an early 4 0 lead with goals by Gilbert LeBlanc Kipling Bucklot and Bucklot, then held a 7 5 margin after two periods before sealing the win in the third with goals by Olson Hunter and Cook. penalties were issued to both teams including a game misconduct for Rossburn.

Rossburn Girls Win Volleyball Tournament

On November 19 teams from Binscorth Russell El phinstone and Quakburn traveled to Rossburn for a junior high volleyball tournament. The Rossburn girls won the tournament after a series of hard fought games. The Junior High Student Council raised over $60 at a booth. Volleyball remains the season's sport. On November 22 the Rossburn team traveled to Russell. they won 2 of 3 games.

MAST Award To Minnedosa Student Teacher

The Manitoba Association of School Trustees announces Diane Rebecca Erven of Minnedosa as the awarding recipient. An honors graduate of Minnedosa Collegiate she is enrolled in Education 1A at the University of Manitoba Fort Garry. The award honors the student in Education 1A with the top academic standing.

Obituary Mrs Phillipina Berney remembered in Foxwarren

Mrs Phillipina Berney died November 10 1966 at Ninette Sanatorium at age 91 after six years confinement. She came from Germany as a child, married Parker Berney in 1897, lived on a Boyle Dist farm, retired to Angusville, then to institutional care after a 1958 hip injury. She leaves three sons, five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. Funeral at Foxwarren United Church November 14 with interment there.
