Local residents report visits and relocations, with many planning winter stays in Winnipeg and Vancouver. The Ukranian Women's Association held a dinner planning session, St Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church organized a bazaar and dance, and St Nicolas Greek Orthodox hosted a banquet. Multiple residents are noted traveling to Ontario, Toronto, and eastern points.
Congratulations to eight newlyweds married in October and November 1956. Walter Derhak and Marie Millenchuk wed October 13 in Winnipeg. Nick Prokopcchuk and Olive Chuchmuch married October 15 at Angusville. Peter Kotch and Doris Bachewich tied the knot October 27 at St Nicholas Church Ozerna. John Millenchuk and Shirley Rystephanuk wed November 3 at St Nicholas Church Sandy Lake N.
Armistice Day was observed in Sandy Lake on Sunday November 11 at 1 30 with a brief service at the cenotaph. Legion and Auxiliary members paraded to the cenotaph where wreaths were laid by five schoolboys Dale Hnatuk Larry Kristolovich Sadiey Marcynik Don Hnatuk and Lorne Keenich escorted by Legion members. John Domansky laid the Legion wreath and Mrs Kay Koltuisky the Legion Auxiliary wreath. Anthony Yaworsky conducted the program with Sadley Marcynik reading In Flanders Fields.
The wedding of Shrey sya g elane daughter of Fr and Mrs Nick hystephan took place on Saturday November 1 at 4 p m in St Ivienolas Greek Orthodox Church Sandy Lake North with John second son of Mr and Mrs Pro ey Mallenchuk also of Sandy Lake. Rev Y Mose ychuk officiated. The bride wore a floor length gown with a double overlay of nylon tulle and metallic net and carried a mauve orchid on a white Bible with Sweetheart roses. Bridesmaids wore scarlet velvet gowns. maid of honor Miss Jean Milenchuk. The reception was at the Community Hall Sandy Lake and the couple will reside in Winnipeg after a wedding trip to Ontario the States and Edmonton.
