Vista W I Holds Annual Meeting at Florence Stitt Home

The Vista Women's Institute met on Thursday November 14 at Mrs. Florence Stitt's home. Officers were elected for the coming year and reports reviewed detailing 11 meetings with an average attendance of 7 and 13 visitors, plus monthly charitable donations and community activities.

Elphinstone Calf Club Holds Second Meeting

The Elphinstone Calf Club met at the school with Bins members and one visitor on Nov. 8. Jim Geekie will request judging cards and a judging class will be at Coulson's. The next meeting is set for Friday, Dec. 13.

Rural Council Sells For Adams 550 Grader 1958

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn has finalized a deal with Construction Equipment Co for an Adams 550 123 hp grader with scarifier. Delivery is planned for May 1958 or earlier if weather allows. Trade accepted includes an Austin Western grader and a Motor Coach Patrol. The new machine will be more powerful than the provincial maintainer used on the Turkey Trail.

Hospital Aid Reports Active Year at Rossburn Hospital

The Rossburn Hospital Aid summarizes an active year with 11 meetings, 19 members enrolled, and average attendance of 10. Receipts $804.11 and expenditures $903.64. Funds came from raffles, Bingo, rag events, a shower, donations, and gifts from district groups and individuals. Purchases included a Console Singer sewing machine, stainless steel serving trays and sugar sets, water jugs, locker boxes, blankets, decorations, and a baby gift. Oxygen piping installed at about $700.00. Jessie Caldwell presides and thanks the district for support with hopes for more hospital extras next year.

An Intermediate Hockey Club meeting for Rossburn will be held at The Beaver Lumber Co. building on Monday November 25 at 7 30 p m All interested in Rossburn hockey are urged to attend this organizational session.

Hospital Aid Elects Officers in Rossburn District

The Ross burn District Hospital Aid annual meeting on November 18 at Mrs. Walter Armstrong’s home noted 14 attendees. Officers for 1958 include President Mrs. Jessie Caldwell, Vice President Mrs. Isobel Huston Lee, and Treasurer Mrs. Nancy Andrew. A raffle offers a petit point picture donated by Miss Seollie worth 50 dollars, an electric clock and a velvet cushion. Draw set for January 29, 1958. December purchases include 20 yards flannelette for children’s pajamas. Next meeting at Mrs. Gert Stewart’s home on December 16.

Curling Club Names Officers at Annual Meeting

The Curling Club held its annual meeting on November 14. Officers elected for 1957 58 include President Jim Carson Vice President John Maydan Secretary Cameron Coghill Treasurer WM Silewich. A new ice maker will be appointed and begin when weather is suitable.

Rink Committee Plans Annual Turkey Bingo Event

A rink committee meeting outlined the Annual Turkey Bingo for Friday and Saturday December 6 and 7. Proceeds support the skating rink’s winter operations and debt relief. Vernon Hamilton is rehired as caretaker due to his expertise with steam boilers.
